5Easy Fix for HHR Interior Handle
By JFixit
Easy fix but drill bit, screws and superglue probably not needed. Must remove the entire door panel. Lower window, remove a round plastic push pin in middle of panel near the door latch by pusing in center about 1/4" and then it pull the entire pin out. Remove the 3 - Torx #30 screws (2 black under the rubber piece in the recessed door pull and 1 gray behind the black plastic cover in the center of the broken door latch - use small screwdriver to remove cover first). Start at the bottom corner of the panel and slowly pull away. There are several plastic snap fasteners down both sides and at the bottom so it will take some force to pull away. I used a plastic trim removal tool that fits around each pin to prevent breakage. A flat blade screw driver will work but wrap with tape to avoid scratches or place something behing it like a wood shim. Once the bottom and sides are free lift up on the panel slightly to free it. It will have the lock swith and door latch cable st ill attached. Remove latch cable at the inside door latch by gently pulling out on the plastic retainer at the back and then lifting up. Next remove the electric door lock switch. The entire wire harness connector with rocker button is snapped into place with a catch on each side. CAREFULLY loosen one side with a small flat blade screwdriver and then the other. The panel should now be free. There are 2 foam blocks attached to the panel. One of mine fell off so I used 2 sided tape to refasten. Place the panel face down on a rug or piece of carpet. Instructions call for drilling out the entire latch with back plate as it is melt attached at 5 points but if just the chrome latch is broken you should be able to swap the pieces as just a plastic push pin holds the latch in place. Make sure to get the spring which fits over the latch in the proper orientation. Wish I would have looked closer as I did the drill, glue and screw routine as shown in the instructions! To ins tall repeat in reverse order. Snap the lock switch back into place. To install the latch cable, place the end of the cable in the plastic holder first (round split hole at top of the plastic retainer) and when snapped into place the cable is forced into the latch. TEST THE LATCH TO MAKE SURE IT WORKS! The panel needs to be lifted up and placed over the tabs at the top of the door. View from the outside to lift over the tabs and get tight to the weatherstrip (reason window needs to be down). Also make sure the inside door lock rod is placed through hole in panel. Carefully align plastic snap fasteners in door and tap with bottom of fist. Reinstall Torx screws (gray one goes in center of latch), cover and plastic push pin. Takes 1 - 1 1/2 hours. Hope this helps!

It is a door handle and it fits. Easy install, but same poor construction as factory. Only option, still not worth price.
