5Works as intended
By Will
This is for the front passenger door. I used this product on my 1999 Dodge Durango. So far it is working as intended.

My journey started after a cold day of snowboarding when my passenger door started sticking (had to pull really hard on the door handles to get the door to unlatch). The next day the door started buzzing when doing an electronic door lock (no buzz on the unlock). I removed the assebmly before ordering this part to see if the assembly could be taken apart and fixed manually. I didn't actually try to repair it but from looking at it I would say this is not a serviceable part and the whole assembly needs to be replaced. This is a specialty part and local stores like Napa, Carquest, Autozone, ETC won't carry this part.

Replacement instructions (I'm doing this from memory, forgive me if I miss a detail).

Tools required: Phillips Screwdriver, Torques Driver (T30 I think), Socket wrench (10 mm I think), headlamp and/or magn etic drop light.

Step 1: Remove the five screws from the door panel (1 by window, 1 under door handle, 2 on bottom, 1 behind door release (lift release to access screw).
Step 2: Lift door panel off door (straight up motion, may need a few bumps from the bottom with a rubber mallet to break loose)
Step 3: Detach the lever arm from the door release (flip the plastic clip off then pull the metal bar out, it is the same time of clip on the actuator so it will make more sense when you've got it).
Step 4: Disconnect the window/lock wires. Set door panel aside.
Step 5: Peel back the white door cover. The glue should be reusable when you're done. I peeled it back half way and then used a hook to hold it out of my way.
Step 6: Remove the two lower bolts (10 mm and Torques) that secure the bracket. Once those are removed the bracket should swing back and forth. At this point you can either work around the bracket like I did or, like I fou nd out just as I was putting everything back together, if you pull down on the thing it should slide out and let you easily access everything (/facepalm).
Step 7: As is easy for you, disconnect the various clips, wire, and screws and remove the old unit. (Note, I removed the black cap (use a screwdriver to push out) to gain easy access to a clip on the outside door handle. Now that I know that the bar is removable this step may not be needed.
Step 8: Reverse steps 7-1 to reassemble door.

Estimated time: 1-2 hours.
Difficulty: About as hard as an oil change.

5Door latch actuator
By Leland Reed
Works great! Instillation was not difficult. Dodge vechiles are known for the door locks going out. Hopefully this one will outlast my vechiles.
